Portland (OR) — Dec 10, 2015 — WATSON CREATIVE, a design-led business consultancy firm with headquarters in Portland, Oregon, today announced the expansion of its business activities with new offices in San Francisco. The new studio, led by design industry veteran Joe Iacono, will be located in San Francisco’s South of Market district, renowned for both its innovative tech space and its vibrant art scene.
With its unique blend of disruptive design and tech-savvy entrepreneurship, WATSON CREATIVE will be a natural fit for SoMa’s tech community. The district is home to industry giants such as Linkedin, Dropbox, Zynga, Airbnb, Uber, Wired and Foursquare, to name a few. Watson Creative will also continue its expansion into the California Association of Winegrape Growers: 110 varieties of grapes grow in the state of California, and Watson’s Bay Area team will focus on clients and partners in the growing Tri Valley and Napa Valley regions.
Joe Iacono, studio manager for the new Bay Area location, is a twelve-year veteran of product development, corporate branding and marketing campaigns, through his firm, Iacono Design Group. A graduate of Oregon State University, Iacono made a global impact in a wide range of industries including transportation, commodities, apparel and juvenile products. Iacono’s client list includes Toyota, Scion, General Motors, Ford Racing, Aeropostale, Oakley, Apple Bottom Jeans, Combi, Dorel, Summer Infant, Dickies, Rockstar Energy Drinks and Panasonic.
“Joe Iacono is the perfect candidate to lead our new expansion into the Bay Area,” said Matt Watson, founder and creative director at Watson. “I’ve known Joe for years, and we graduated together from Oregon State University in 2000. We’ve followed each other’s professional careers closely, and I know he shares WATSON CREATIVE’s passion for innovative design, creative problem-solving and disruptive innovation.”
“WATSON CREATIVE will fit in well in the South of Market art district,” said Joe Iacono. “The neighborhood is famous for its unique blend of revolutionary tech industry startups and artistic energy. I’m beyond excited to direct the south-based division of the very talented WATSON CREATIVE team. Since our studies at Oregon State University, I always wanted to work with Matt Watson in a professional design environment. I’m a huge fan of Matt’s work for NIKE, and his leadership and organization are a model for success in the world of advertising.”
